Pedestrian Accessibility

The Division of Public Works is responsible for ensuring that the transportation infrastructure within County rights-of-way, including sidewalks and curb ramps, is accessible to all pedestrians.

DPW Managed Facility Accessibility

The Division of Public Works is responsible for ensuring that DPW managed facilities are accessible to all pedestrians and employees. All new facilities are designed and built to meet current ADA standards. 

Inspection & Repairs

The Division of Public Works is responsible for regularly inspecting DPW managed facilities and County rights-of-way.  Facilities and transportation infrastructure are continuously updated to comply with ADA standards.

Public Input

The Division is requesting public input regarding DPW managed facilities and transportation infrastructure within County rights-of-way. Residents are encouraged to provide comments on the transition plan or submit a brief description of the barrier to accessibility they currently face to the appropriate Coordinator indicated on this page, or they may send a letter by regular mail to:

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Frederick County has adopted a Transition Plan to address barriers to accessibility in County maintained public rights of way.  The Transition Plan will address barriers identified in the 2014 Self Evaluation over a ten year period beginning in Fiscal Year 2016, which begins July 1, 2015.
