The Office of Transportation Engineering administers system-wide programs to maintain and improve the county transportation network. We monitor road, bridge, and traffic conditions in order to optimize mobility and safety for the traveling public.

Responsibilities

  • Administer existing Capital Improvement Projects; plan future projects
  • Collect and analyze traffic data
  • Conduct safety reviews; make spot improvements
  • Administer bridge maintenance program; determine bridge weight ratings
  • Collect road surface condition data; develop repair prioritization
  • Design road sign and striping plans
  • Maintain existing traffic signals; plan new
  • Maintain existing guardrail; plan new
  • Manage County road inventory; process road transfers and open/close/alter petitions
  • Administer County right-of-way permit program
