Department of Fleet Services

Responsibilities

The Department of Fleet Services is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of the County’s vehicles and equipment. The department also manages the County’s fuel inventory and tracks all fuel dispensed into County vehicles.  County-owned vehicles include cars and light trucks, cruisers, heavy-duty trucks, construction and off-road equipment, fire apparatus, transit buses, and a wide range of specialty equipment.

The Department of Fleet Services is engaged in a comprehensive collaboration with the Division of Energy and Environment to transition the County's fleet to alternative fuel vehicles. This initiative underscores the County's commitment to sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The partnership concentrates on integrating cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies into the fleet, including electric, hybrid, and other low-emission vehicles. By adopting alternative fuels, we aim to reduce operational costs, enhance air quality, and align with broader environmental objectives, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for the community.
