Agriculture Business Council

Council's Purpose

The Agriculture Business Council (ABC) was formed to investigate and implement ways to promote, develop and preserve the ag-industry in Frederick County. The council pro-actively informs the County Executive, County Council and the Office of Agriculture on agricultural issues.

Meeting Times

Meets bi-monthly during even numbered months on the fourth Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Individuals requiring accommodations for a disability or language translation should contact the Agriculture Business Council at 301-600-3037 or dial 711 for Maryland Relay Services at least three (3) working days prior to the meeting.  Please check the Board & Commissions calendar for any changes to regularly scheduled meetings and for meeting locations.

How to Get Involved

Appointments occur on a rolling basis and as positions open. Non-members are encouraged to attend and participate in activities. The Council shall be comprised of ten (10) members who shall be appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. Eight (8) of the members shall have experience and expertise in the agriculture industry. In addition, the Council shall have two (2) at-large members appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. To the extent possible the committee will include representatives from the following agriculture industries: agri­-business, agri-tourism, beef, dairy, equine, grain, horticulture, specialty crops, craft beverages, and others. The Council will represent a diverse cross section of the industry in Frederick County.

Procedure for Appointment

The Council may recommend candidates to the County Executive for appointment. Members serve 3-year terms. If your qualifications match current openings, please apply by sending your letter of interest along with a current resume to fcgboards.
