About the Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board

The Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board was established in 1978.  It comprises five members serving five year terms.  The members are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council.  The purpose of the Board is to provide advice and approvals regarding the purchase of agricultural easements within Frederick County; to assist Frederick County Government in reviewing the status of land under easement; to advise the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Foundation concerning Frederick County’s priorities for agricultural preservation; and to promote preservation of agricultural land within the County by offering information and assistance to farmers with respect to the purchase of easements.

Current members of the Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board are:

  • Richard Grossnickle, Honorary Member

Per the Frederick County Ethics Law, members are required to complete an annual Financial Disclosure Statement. For more information, contact the County Attorney’s Office at 301-600-1030.

Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board meetings are open to the public and are held on the 4th Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in Winchester Hall (12 E. Church St., Frederick, MD).
