[ARCHIVED] Recruit Classes 38 & 39 Graduate from Frederick County Fire and Rescue Training Academy

Frederick, Md. – The Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services will congratulate 42 of its newest members on Friday, July 25, 2025.  The ceremony will be held at Frederick High School Auditorium starting at 6:00 p.m.  

These 28-week academies began on January 13, 2025.  The firefighters participated in over 1000 hours of coursework, which included Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Vehicle Operator, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Rescue Technician - Site Operations, Technical Rescue: Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue, Firefighter Safety and Survival, Truck Company Operations, Arson Detection for the First Responder as well as daily challenging physical fitness conditioning. 

Recruit Class 38 members are: Jeremy Brawner, Andrew Calkins, Luke Carey, Destiny Conley, Matthew Harris, Grantham Hinsvark, Xavier Holt, John Houston, Sean McNiff, Yusuf Noor, Ethan Risner, Andrew Rutherford, Gavin Schisler, Michael Semelsberger, Michael Sofelkanik, Quinn Tallant, Matthew Tudela, Chase Wilhelm, and John Woodward.

Recruit Class 39 members are:  John Arisman, Andrew Bowser, Stephen Boyce, Benjamin Daniels, Mathew Farre, Zachary Fletcher, Zackary Harris, Van Holson, Cameron Hoppman, Ian Kiddy, Gavin King, Julian Lee Lopez, Summer Lefler Booth, Tyler McCarthy, Austin McCauley, Cameron Mingee, Jeremy Nease, Reignon Prillman, Paul Saulsbury, James Seeley, Samuel Swift, Nathaniel Ward, and Dylan Welsh.

Many of the rookie firefighters will begin their station assignments the day after graduation, July 26, 2025.  Others rookie firefighters will begin within the following 48 hours.

The Recruit Classes were supervised and led by DFRS’s Battalion Fire Chief of Training, Francis Malta, Captain Daniel Winters, Lieutenant Cameron Pressman (RC 38), and Lieutenant Vernon Love (RC 39). Instructional sessions were supported by several employees assigned to the Operations Section of the Division of Fire and Rescue. 

The ceremony will be recorded by Frederick County Government TV (FCG TV) and will be broadcast on Comcast channels 19  and 1085 for future viewing.
