[ARCHIVED] PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY

Boil water advisory for Sam Hill Estates and Manorwood

Sam Hill Estates and Manorwood Impacted

FREDERICK, Md. - Residents in the Sam Hill Estates and Manorwood communities are advised to boil their water until further notice because of a water main break in the Sam Hill Estates community.

Residents may experience changes in water pressure or a complete loss of water service. The loss of pressure can create opportunities for bacteria to contaminate water in the system’s pipes.

Crews from the Frederick County Division of Water and Sewer Utilities are responding to the water main break along Sam Hill Drive. There is no estimate for when service will be restored.

What you need to know

  • Boil any water that you use to prepare food, brush teeth, make into ice, and drink.
  • Bring water to a full boil for at least one minute, which will make water safe for consumption. Remember to let the water cool before use.
  • Ice that wasn’t made from boiled water should not be consumed or used in drinks.
  • You can bathe or wash in the water safely without boiling it first.

Residents will be notified when the water can safely be used without boiling.

The Division of Water and Sewer Utilities, the Frederick County Health Department, and the Maryland Department of the Environment are monitoring the water system and will lift or revise this advisory as necessary.  The advisory is a precautionary measure and will be lifted after water service is fully restored and water quality tests verify the safety of the water supply.  This process may take several days.

For more information, residents should call the Division of Water and Sewer Utilities at 301-600-1825 during normal business hours and 301-600-2194 after hours.
