[ARCHIVED] Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Stations to Hold Fire Prevention Educational Events

Safety

FREDERICK, MD -- The Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association is celebrating the 100th anniversary of National Fire Prevention Week from October 9 – 15, 2022.

The Frederick County Volunteer Fire Prevention and Life Safety Committee would like to remind everyone to create a fire escape plan and practice it frequently as this year’s theme is “Fire won’t wait.  Plan your escape.”  It is very important you have an escape plan as today you have less than three minutes to evacuate your home due to synthetic materials used in furniture and construction.

In celebration of 100 years of fire prevention, two local corporations will be hosting open houses providing fire prevention and life safety information to citizens of all ages.

The Vigilant Hose Company, located at 25 West Main Street in Emmitsburg, Maryland will be hosting their annual open house on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For more information relating to this event, feel free to contact Elyssa Cool at elyssa.cool@yahoo.com.

The Urbana Fire and Rescue Department, located at 3602 Urbana Pike, Frederick, Maryland, will be hosting their annual open house on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, from noon until 3 p.m.  For more information relating to this event, contact the fire station at 301-663-3822 and ask for Brian Purdum.

Both events will be filled with many activities for the family.   The events are open to the public.
