Budget Public Hearing Scheduled for March 21

Limited Number of People May Attend In-Person; 
 Call-In Option Available for Others

 

FREDERICK, Md. – Members of the public are invited to speak to their budget priorities for the coming fiscal year at Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner’s upcoming public hearing. The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, March 21. The event will take place at Winchester Hall using a hybrid format. In-person attendance will be limited to the first 25 members of the public who pre-register. Others may participate virtually through a call-in option.

“Preparing the county budget is the most important responsibility I have as County Executive and the most significant task we do together as a community,” said Executive Gardner. “I want to hear from the public to make sure the County’s budget reflects our community’s priorities.”

There will be multiple ways for the public to participate in the public hearing.

The public hearing will be broadcast live on FCG TV, and can be viewed on the following platforms:

  • Cable Channels 19 and 1085. Closed captioning is available in English and Spanish. 
  • Web-streamed from FrederickCountyMD.gov/FCGtv. Closed captioning is available in English.
  • Web-streamed from FrederickCountyMD.gov/BudgetPublicHearing. Live translations in multiple languages are available from this broadcast, using the “translate” button on that web page.

To record a voice message, press *2 after 7 p.m. Some messages may be played during the public hearing, time permitting. To give real-time comments, press *3. You will continue to hear the meeting while you wait in the virtual queue for your turn to speak. Pre-registration is not required for those who participate virtually. 

Attend in person

Pre-registration is required to attend the meeting at Winchester Hall. To pre-register, go to FrederickCountyMD.gov/BudgetPublicHearing. Masks will be required for those who attend in-person. 

A Balancing Act

Now through 5 p.m. Thursday, March 17, people can use an interactive tool called A Balancing Act to prioritize existing budget requests. Visit FrederickCountyMD.gov/BalancingAct to participate.
