The Division of Public Works, Office of Transportation Engineering, announced today that the bridge over Monocacy River on Bullfrog Road will be closed due to safety concerns of the bridge structure. This closure will allow the Office of Transportation Engineering and Office of Highway Operations make repairs. The closure is anticipated to last several weeks, weather pending.
The structure, built in 1908 and rehabilitated in 1996 and 2010, is a single span steel through truss bridge of camelback design. The single lane bridge has a span length of approximately 183 feet with a clear roadway width of approximately 13 feet. The bridge structure currently has a posted weight restriction of 30,000 pounds.
