Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner today announced that the Frederick County Health Department’s Kids Like Us program has earned a 2017 National Exemplary Award for Innovative Substance Abuse Prevention Programs, Practices & Policies from the National Prevention Network. The Health Department will receive the award at the network’s conference in September. Kids Like Us is one of only three prevention programs nationwide to receive an excellence award from NPN.
“The Kids Like Us program provides a bright light of hope to children who are feeling stressed, ashamed and isolated when family members are addicted to heroin and other substances,” said Executive Gardner. “We are so proud to have this phenomenal program here that truly makes a difference in the lives of Frederick County’s children.”
