Since snow stopped falling in Frederick County, road crews have worked diligently to move record-setting amounts of snow off county roads. Nearly every part of the county saw accumulations of at least 30 inches. Because of the volume of snow and drifts as high as 6 feet in some areas, removal is taking longer than usual. Heavy equipment, such as loaders and backhoes, must be used to move, load, and haul out the snow, which takes substantially more time than plowing.
