Judge Cady served as Vice President of the Board of County Commissioners from 2002 – 2006. He also actively served as commissioner liaison to the Adult Public Guardianship Board, Board of Education, Child Advocacy Center, Coalition for the Homeless, Commission on Disabilities, Parks & Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, Substance Abuse Council, Tourism Council and Weinberg Center for the Arts.
Board President Blaine Young commented, “We are deeply sorry to hear of the passing of former County Commissioners’ Vice President Michael Cady. He has faithfully served the citizens of Frederick County and we are all grateful for his many long hours in public service to citizens of all ages. We have issued a directive to fly the Frederick County flags at all county facilities at half mast for the next 48 hours in honor and in memory of Michael Cady. We especially extend our sympathies and prayers for comfort during this time to his wife, Darlene, and his family and many friends.”
