Frederick County Government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. County offices and services will return to regular hours on Monday, December 1.
Clarifications to the holiday schedule:
- Animal Control: Administrative office will be closed, and kennels will be closed for adoptions both November 27 and 28. Animal Control Officers will be available for animal related emergencies only on Thanksgiving Day, and on routine duty Friday, November 28. Please call 301-600-1544 to contact an Officer. - Department of Social Services: Office will be closed. For further details, call 1-800-332-6347 or visit DHS.Maryland.gov.
- Division of Solid Waste and Recycling: The Reich’s Ford Road Facility, including the Transfer Station, Yard Waste and Compost Programs, Citizens Convenience Center, and Recycling Center, will be closed Thursday, November 27 with operations resuming Friday, November 28 from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Administrative and customer services will operate in a limited capacity Friday, November 28. Due to the Thanksgiving closure, recycling collection will slide one day, with Thursday’s collection sliding to Friday and Friday’s collection sliding to Saturday.

- Frederick County Public Libraries: Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26 and will be closed all day Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28. Curbside pickup and telephone reference will not be available. For further details, call 301-600-1630 or visit FCPL.org.
- Frederick County Courts and State’s Attorney’s Office: State’s Attorney’s Office and Frederick County District and Circuit Courts will be closed.
- Transit: The Transit office will be closed, and all Transit services will be canceled on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28. On Saturday, November 29, Transit will operate on a modified schedule: regular service will run, except the 50 Connector and the shaded trips on the 10 Connector schedule will not operate.
