The over-height warning portal on Roddy Road, north of the covered bridge near Thurmont, was struck and damaged by a vehicle today. As a result, the road will be closed at the bridge until repairs can be made to the warning portal. The historic Roddy Road Covered Bridge was not harmed. The person responsible remained on the scene. Repairs to the over-height warning portal will be completed by the Department of Highway Operations. It is unclear how long the closure will be in effect. A signed detour route is posted. Department staff have notified emergency personnel.
