[ARCHIVED] Two Injured in Fire on Reichs Ford Road

Fire pours out of a barn as firefighters try to extinguish the blaze

At approximately 7:09 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, the Frederick County Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a barn fire with possible entrapment in the 9000 block of Reichs Ford Road in Frederick.

Units from Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services arrived on scene within minutes to find a 30 x 60 outbuilding with extensive fire showing. Crews performed an aggressive fire attack and made entry into the structure to search for the occupant. A Rapid Intervention Dispatch was requested and during search efforts, one adult male was located unconscious and removed from the structure. The patient was immediately transferred over to Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers for medical care. The occupant was transported with life threatening injuries to Frederick Health Hospital. An additional civilian was transported by EMS to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. It took an estimated 45 firefighters around 15 minutes to place the fire under control.

There was no damage to any other structures and no other injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office.
