[ARCHIVED] Frederick County Government Offices Closed for Christmas

FREDERICK, Md. – Frederick County Government offices will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Tuesday, December 26 for the Christmas Holiday. County offices and services will return to regularly scheduled hours on Wednesday, December 27.                                                                                                                       

Clarifications to the holiday schedule:

  • Animal Control: Administrative office will be closed, and kennels will be closed for adoptions on Monday, December 25 and Tuesday, December 26. Animal Control Officers will be available for animal related emergencies only on Monday, December 25 and on routine duty Tuesday, December 26, call 301-600-1544. For emergency situations, call 301-600-1603 or visit www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/animalcontrol.  
  • Board of Elections: Office will be closed. For further details, visit FrederickCountyMD.gov/elections or call 301-600-VOTE.
  • Department of Social Services: The office will be closed in observance of the holiday on Monday, December 25 and will open for regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, December 26. For further details, call 1-800-332-6347 or visit www.dhs.maryland.gov.
  • Division of Solid Waste and Recycling: The Reich’s Ford Road Facility, including the Transfer Station, Yard Waste and Compost Programs, Citizens Convenience Center, and Recycling Center, will be closed Christmas Day with operations resuming Tuesday, the 26th at 7AM. Administrative and customer services will operate in a limited capacity on that Tuesday.  Due to the Christmas closure, recycling collection will slide one day, with Monday’s collection sliding to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday, Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday. County recyclers can expect a similar collection slide with the New Years Day holiday. With the holidays DSWR reminds residents to download the Recycle Coach App to keep track of these changes. 
  • Health Department: All offices will be closed on Monday, December 25. The Developmental Center and School Health Services will be closed on Tuesday, December 26. For further details, call 301-600-1029 or visit Health.FrederickCountyMD.gov.
  • Frederick County Public Libraries: Libraries will be closed on Sunday, December 24 through Tuesday, December 26. Curbside pickup and telephone reference will not be available. For further details, call 301-600-1630 or visit www.fcpl.org.   
  • Frederick County Courts and State’s Attorney’s Office: District and Circuit Courts will be closed in observance of the holiday on Monday, December 25 and will open during regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, December 26. 
  • Liquor Board: Offices will be closed. For further details, call 1-301-600-2984 or visit https://www.frederickcountymd.gov/1291/Liquor-Board.
  • Transit: The Transit office will be closed Monday, December 25, and all services will be cancelled.  On Tuesday, December 26th, the Transit office will be closed. Transit services and regional transportation will follow a modified schedule.
