The open house is an opportunity for citizens to get a behind the scenes look at the Sheriff’s Office and its personnel. The event includes building tours, vehicle and table displays, a Taser educational class and K-9 demonstration.
Now with over 800 friends, the Sheriff’s Office uses its Facebook page ("Frederick County Sheriff's Office, MD") to keep the community informed about police related issues through press releases, public service announcements and photos. On several incidents after the Sheriff’s Office posted information about open investigations on its Facebook page, citizens called with tips that assisted investigators in furthering or closing the case. This direct contact with citizens has become an invaluable tool.
