FREDERICK, Md. – The evolution continues at the almost 600-acre Solid Waste and Recycling facility at 9031 Reichs Ford Road in Frederick, with the completion of a retrofit to the transfer station, which shifts handload and residential customers to eight marked bays outside.
The change allows smaller vehicles to avoid waiting in line to enter the transfer station, while letting larger trucks have more room to operate, reducing wait times and increasing safety for all. Since soft launching this new flow, waiting times have significantly decreased and customer satisfaction has increased.
With this success, beginning February 1, the Citizens Convenience Center next to the recycle center drop-off area will be phased out. Soon the area will be used for programs that promote and expand waste diversion. More information and official closing dates can be found online at: FrederickCountyMD.gov.
The Frederick County Division of Solid Waste and Recycling provides integrated waste management for the county and its residents with waste reduction, recycling, and disposal programs.
