[ARCHIVED] Sprinkler Systems Make a Difference In Frederick County

Although the fire and rescue community has known for quite some time that sprinkler systems coupled with properly installed and maintained smoke alarms save lives and property, here is some information directly related to Frederick County.

Since December 24, 2009, sprinkler systems have saved an estimated 15 lives, and $695,000 in property damage.

Although residential sprinkler systems have been required in townhomes for a long time, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a residential sprinkler ordinance in 2006 that requires a sprinkler system to be installed in all residential occupancies, including, but not limited to 1 and 2-family dwellings.
