All children deserve happy childhoods and bright futures. April is Child Abuse Prevention month, and you will see silver and blue pinwheels (the national symbol of child abuse prevention) sprouting up all around Frederick County. They remind us of the important role we each play in ensuring every child has an equal opportunity for healthy growth and development.
The Child Advocacy Center is asking you to show your support for children by adding blue pinwheels to your April gardens and landscapes. Whether you display one pinwheel or a hundred, you help spread the message that children, like garden seeds, thrive when they are nurtured. When you participate, we invite you to send us a picture of your pinwheel garden that we may post on the Child Advocacy Center’s FaceBook page.
When your friends and neighbors ask you about it, let them know that you believe that protecting children is everyone’s business, and you are participating in the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign. Together we can raise awareness that it is possible for each one of us to make a positive difference in the life of a child. Encourage them to join with you and plant a pinwheel.
This April, make a statement that you stand for children and believe that together we can support them now and protect their futures.
