FREDERICK, Md. – The first meeting of Frederick County Government’s Racial Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team will be held virtually Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. The kick-off meeting will be led by Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner, with subsequent meetings led by Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer Michael Hughes. In case of inclement weather, a snow date has been set for Monday, Dec. 21.
“I have placed a high priority on advancing equity and inclusion, both within county government and throughout our community, so that everyone has equitable opportunity to prosper,” Executive Gardner said when she announced the leadership team’s formation in late October.
The Racial Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team is comprised of community members and stakeholders who over the next 90 to 120 days will work together to develop priorities to shape a strategic plan for moving forward equity and inclusion in Frederick County and beyond. Members of the leadership team include: Mari Lee, Alderman Roger Wilson, Rose Chaney, Sherry Angeletty-Haydel Keith Harris, Rev. Ronnie Henri, Rev, Darren Gerald, Thad Goodman, Maria Hererra, Toni Shindlecker, Katie Hall, Xavier Bruce, Akiyyah Billups, Peter Brehm, Dr. Terry Scott, William Reid, Veronica Lowe, Aje Hill, Latrice Lewis, Solash Aviles, Wayne Howard, Maria Shuck, Margaret Nusbaum, and Council Vice President Michael Blue.
The meeting will be broadcast live on FCG TV, on cable channels 19 and 1085. It will also be web streamed on the County website at FrederickCountyMD.gov/FCGtv and on Public Input at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/Racial-Equity
