During her public information briefing, Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner presented the first steps toward keeping school construction projects on time and on schedule in the face of rising costs.
“I have always been passionate about school overcrowding and we are facing serious challenges in this area. What we are seeing is a perfect storm of skyrocketing school construction costs, fed by market conditions, state mandates and more,” Executive Gardner said.
“In addition, a plan was put in place by the prior administration that allowed residential development to continue no matter how overcrowded the schools, and without the needed money to build the schools.”
