After the River Board approved their update to the 1990 Monocacy River Study and Management Plan on August 2, 2017 (and prior to Frederick County or Carroll County approval or modification of the August 2017 River Board Recommended Monocacy River Management Plan), the River Board sent a letter to Frederick County and Carroll County requesting that the counties allow the River Board to revise its August 2017 Recommended Plan.
On April 18, 2018, Carroll County formally returned the August 2017 River Board Recommended Plan to the River Board for revision, along with results of a March 12, 2018 public forum held in Taneytown, Maryland on the August 2017 River Board Recommended Plan.
On July 24, 2018, the Frederick County Council voted to send the August 2017 River Board Recommend Plan back to the River Board for revision, along with several amendments made to the August 2017 Plan by the County Council.
The River Board made revisions to their August 2017 Monocacy River Management Plan on July 11, August 1, August 9, September 5, September 12, and October 3, 2018. The River Board voted on October 3, 2018 to approve a Revised 2018 Monocacy River Management Plan that replaces the August 2, 2017 River Board Recommended Plan. A letter from the River Board with their vote on the 2018 Revised Plan was sent to Frederick and Carroll Counties on October 4, 2018.
