Internship Information

SAO Seal clip Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office Internship

Interns gain experience in the office through working with Assistant State’s Attorneys, Witness Coordinators and Investigators.
All internships are unpaid. 
Note that if credit is available from your school we are glad to work with you to meet any requirements for receiving credit.
Interns are required to work at least 2 full days of the week.
The office hours for interns are 8:30am to 4:30pm.
 

     
Fall Semester Internship Dates: Resume deadline middle of August. Internship begins in September.
 
 
Spring Semester Internship Dates: Resume deadline middle of December. Internship begins in January.

Summer Internship Dates
: Resume deadline middle of April. Internship begins in June.

 

College Intern Duties Overview

Contact victims: explain the court system, explain why they are needed, discuss restitution, obtain documentation
Meet w/Prosecutors to prepare dockets:  Excuse witnesses if they are n
ot served, case continued, motions pending
View and report exculpatory evidence
Prepare trial books
Attend Court 
 
 

Law Clerks Duties Overview 

Work up cases:  facts of case, charges, evidence needed, witnesses needed, note any legal issues
Court:  prepare dockets for prosecutors, assist in court, enter information in JD database
Prepare Motions
