The mission of the Treasury Department is to ensure that the County’s financial resources are collected, protected, invested and distributed in a fiscally responsible manner; and to provide optimal financial services to a wide range of constituents including citizens, taxpayers, businesses, agencies and employees of the County with an effective and efficient team of employees. Each day we strive to strengthen the County’s financial position and reputation, maximize staff productivity and deliver the most compassionate, friendly and efficient service possible.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many County buildings remain closed to the public. However, the Treasury drive-thru window at 30 N. Market Street is open for payments Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4 pm. Property tax payments may also be made at the Division of Water and Sewer Utilities drive-thru window at 4520 Metropolitan Court on Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4 pm. Property taxes may also be paid online using a credit card or e-check as well as mailed to the Treasury Department. There is a secure drop box located at the front entrance of 30 N. Market Street where payments can be dropped off at any time. For questions on payment options, please contact the Treasury Department at 301-600-1111 or email. Thank you!
Although Frederick County does not offer any type of formal payment plan for customers, they do accept partial payments of real estate tax bills. You are able to pay any amount of your bill at the times of your choosing up until the Friday before the County’s annual tax lien sale in May. Many taxpayers divide their bills into monthly, weekly or other installments. Paying partial amounts allows you to reduce the balance due on a schedule that works for you. The accruing of interest continues as usual on any unpaid balance due as of October 1st. The dates relating to delinquency, advertising and tax sale also continue as usual. If you have questions relating to partial payments, please contact the Treasury Department at 301-600-1111 or email@example.com
