The Frederick County Landfill has served the community in one shape or form for over 70 years!
While 95% of the county's waste is transferred, The Frederick County Landfill "Site B" is still an "open" sanitary landfill that will continue to be an integral part of Frederick County's waste management, as well as various emergency management plans, well into the future.
Site A is "capped" (no longer being filled) as part of a long-term management plan and features solar panels that offset the electricity usage of three county libraries, our scale house, and the electric buses used by Frederick County Transit. The capped construction and debris cell at site A is the base for the yard waste drop-off and compost program.
Your vehicle and trailer will be weighed at our scale house when entering our facility. There are two lanes.
Lane 1: All business
Lane 2: Yard waste drop-off and county employees
You will be asked for your driver's license at entry. If your license shows an address outside of Frederick County, proof of provenance that the waste you are bringing in was generated in Frederick County must be furnished to use the facility.
No waste generated outside of Frederick County will be accepted.
When exiting:
Lane 1: All business, cash, credit, and check payments
Lane 2: All business, credit ONLY
Lane 3: County employees only
Follow all signs and posted speed limits when exiting the scale house both into the facility and when leaving, including the STOP sign once exiting the scales.
Please remember to properly secure any pets or children in your vehicle. All children MUST stay in the vehicle at all times.
