DSWM Facilities
The Department of Solid Waste facilities are located at 9031 Reichs Ford Road in Frederick. There are 2 entrances to the site.

The main entrance is also used to access the transfer station, administrative offices, and other site facilities, as well as to purchase mulch and compost. When you arrive at the main entrance your first stop will be at the scale house. In order to keep accurate records of the quantity of materials our site processes, all vehicles are weighed as they enter and exit. The staff person who greets you will ask what you are disposing and direct you to your next stop.
The facilities are to be used for processing waste and recyclables generated in Frederick County only. Proof of residency is required, such as a driver's license or vehicle registration, or alternately, documentation from the Frederick County address where the waste was generated may be shown (such as a work contract, utility bill or rental lease.)

The "Recycle Road" entrance is for access:The recycling drop-off center, for free drop-off of:
- Single stream recyclables (bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, plastic, etc.)
- Bulky/over sized plastics (items too large to recycle curbside)
- Small amounts of yard waste
- Antifreeze and motor oil
- Lead-acid batteries
- Scrap metal and 'white goods' appliances(refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, etc.)

Main Entrance
The main entrance is marked by a sign identifying the Department of Solid Waste Management facilities. This is the main site access point, used when bringing in trash for disposal as well as the following materials for recycling. - Take Interstate 70 East towards Baltimore.
- Take Exit 55 South Street.
- At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto Reich's Ford Road.
- Proceed 3.5 miles, the facilities will be on your right.
From Points South
- Take 270 North to exit 32, Interstate 70 East towards Frederick.
- Take Exit 55 South Street and turn left at the bottom of the ramp.
- Proceed 3.5 miles, the facilities will be on your right.
