*** Drought Watch in Effect ***

While there are not currently any water use restrictions in place for Frederick County Water Systems, the Division of Utilities and Solid Waste Management is closely monitoring water supply and drought condition information provided to us from the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) and Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG). On May 8, 2012, MDE issued a drought watch for the Western and Central regions of Maryland, including Frederick County.  MDE monitors precipitation, stream flow, groundwater levels, and reservoir storage to determine the drought status for each of the six regions of the state.

Frederick County is part of the MWCOG Water Supply and Drought Awareness Plan.  Additional information regarding drought conditions as well as water conservation tips can be found by visiting MWCOG Water Supply and Drought Status website.

Look here for updates as additional information becomes available throughout the summer.
