For Pet Owners
Pets are important members of the family to many people. It's just as important to prepare for your pets in an emergency as it is for yourself.  Include pet items in your emergency kit and plan for your pets care during an emergency. For example:

• Leash  
• Pet food
• Small toy 

In cases of evacuation, remember many shelters do not have accommodations for pets. If it's safest for you to evacuate, it's also usually safest for your pet. Part of your plan should address where your pets will go if you evacuate.
