Waste-to-Energy
Long-Term Waste Management
In 2009, after more than five years of evaluating long-term waste management options, a majority of the Frederick and Carroll Boards of County Commissioners voted to enter into agreements with the Proposed Waste-to-Energy Facility Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority (NMWDA) to develop a 1,500 ton-per-day waste-to-energy facility.
Information regarding this project can be found on the
NMWDA website.
The facility will work in combination with waste reduction and recycling as a long-term solution to our waste management needs.
