Video Introduction to Recycling
The Frederick County Government received an educational grant from Waste Management Recycle America, operator of the materials recovery facility that processes the county’s single stream recyclables. In 2009, this funding was used to produce a DVD which introduces single-stream curbside recycling. Copies of the DVD may be requested by sending email to .

This short, informative video highlights the benefits of recycling and offers an overview of how the county’s program works, from curbside collection through materials processing. There is even a glimpse of how recyclables are sorted after collection!
As explained in the DVD, the single stream program makes recycling an easier, more efficient process where more materials are accepted and less pre-processing of recyclables is required. Residents no longer have to sort items, effectively making recycling as easy as throwing something away—but with the benefit conserving resources and our environment.
In 2010 we hosted a community-wide contest to produce videos that promoted recycling. Check out the award-winning video and all 54 entries
