Mission Statement
The Frederick County Solid Waste Advisory Committee is created for the purpose of recommending to the Board of County Commissioners the soundest methods of waste disposal, recycling, and waste reduction; and advising the Board of County Commissioners on specifically requested policy alternatives.

Membership
The Committee shall have 12 voting members in the following categories:

Designated	Initial Term
Business - Industrial	2 years
Business - Commercial / Retail	3 years
Business - Hi-Tech / Financial	4 years
Environmental Group	2 years
Civic Organization	3 years
Municipality- Population 40,000 or more	4 years
Municipality - Population of 39,999 or less	2 years
Commercial Solid Waste / Recycling Company	3 years

Non-Designated	Initial Term
At-large (one position)	2 years
At-large (two positions)	3 years
At-large (one position)	4 years

Each member shall serve a term of 3 years. The term of the members shall be staggered, as required by the terms of members initially appointed in September 1991. A designated member of the County Commissioners shall be a voting, ex-officio member of the Committee and shall serve in a capacity with his/her term.
