The Community Development Division maintains the data sets listed below. You may download these GIS Digital Data Sets for free.  

Agricultural Preservation
This layer highlights the agricultural preservation areas within the County. These areas have varying degrees of protection depending on the program they are in.  Please see the Land Preservation Department for more specific information

Comprehensive Land Use Plan
The Comprehensive Land Use Plan is correctly represented when all four data layers are utilized.  The Comprehensive Plan is intended to represent how Frederick County may develop within the next 20 - 30 years.  Using the individual data layers by themselves may misrepresent the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. This data is a compilation of the County's eight adopted Region Plans, which have occurred from 1997 to 2008, most of which were adopted using a tax map base, not the draft parcels the data is currently referenced to.

Planning Regions
This file represents areas that have been divided throughout the county for planning related purposes.  There are eight planning regions within Frederick County. These Regions underwent Comprehensive Land Use Plan updates during various times from 1998 - 2008.

Water & Sewer
This data comes from the Master Water & Sewer Plan. This plan is currently undergoing the triennial review update and many changes are expected to occur in the data set. Also the data is referenced to tax maps. It contains Water & Sewer areas (polygons), Facilities, and Lines.

Zoning
This is the representation of current zoning districts. Reference must be made to the County's Zoning Ordinance for descriptions, permitted uses, etc. for each zoning district. Please contact the Frederick County Division of Planning for more detailed information. The data has been referenced to the draft parcels.

Customization of GIS Data and Map Products
The Community Development Division does not create custom GIS data sets or maps nor does it convert hard copy or digital documents to formats for distribution; however there is a public use GIS data viewer application available in our office, or see the Frederick County At A Glance map service.
