Home Detention
General Information
In an effort to provide yet another viable sentencing option to the courts, the Work Release Center expanded its operations to include a Home Detention Program. Approved by the Frederick County Commissioners in July 1991.In general, the Home Detention Program allows for an individual, court-ordered by a judge and with further approval from the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, to remain in the community under intensive supervision.
All participants are closely monitored at home with the use of electronic monitoring technology in addition to home visits and job checks conducted by the community monitoring staff. The Frederick County program focuses on the nonviolent offender who is willing to modify behavior in terms of accountability both inside and outside of the home. Participants maintain a structured schedule demonstrating their responsibility through job performance and accountability to the Work Release Center while minimizing the risk of safety to the community.
The Frederick County Home Detention Program is authorized under Correctional Service Codes
Section 11-712 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
