Transportation
General Information
A major component of the Special Operations Unit is
the Transportation Unit. This unit is comprised of a Sergeant and five
Transportation Officers.
| The Transportation Unit is responsible for transporting all adult prisoners to and from local and out-of-county courts, medical appointments, and evaluations within the State of Maryland. This unit is also responsible for transporting juveniles that have been court-ordered to a juvenile facility within the State of Maryland. There have been occasions when the Transportation Unit has assisted the Patrol Division in transporting prisoners for out-of-state extraditions. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office - Corrections Bureau has a fleet of eleven marked vehicles. |
