Community Services Division
Overview
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office - Corrections Bureau has in place a number of community based correctional programs that provide sentencing options to the judiciary, which are managed under the Community Services Division. The Alternative Sentencing Program, Work Release Program, Home Detention Program and Pretrial Services Unit are programs mandated by law and these operations are maintained by virtue of highly structured guidelines and dedicated staff.

Each component, having its own goals and objectives, provides supervision to nonviolent and first time offenders who have been authorized for participation. Diverting nonviolent offenders from traditional confinement at the Detention Center is essential for maintaining operations and for managing bed space; which is needed to house those offenders who must be incarcerated in order to maintain public safety. The Community Services Programs are cost effective and well-managed alternatives that offer an extreme benefit to the Criminal Justice System, the offender and to Frederick County.
