Rose Hill and Civil War

Throughout the Civil War, Frederick citizens were witnesses to the passing of countless numbers of soldiers. In 1861, Frederick became a garrison and throughout the remaining years of war served as a crossroads for passing of troops.

From 1862 through 1865 thousands of soldiers were treated in Frederick's Civil War Hospitals.

In 1862 and 1863, the residents of Rose Hill Manor were first-hand witnesses to the effects of the Civil War as it became an encampment for both Union and Confederate troops. Join reenactors and living historians from across the region to view what life was like both on and off the battlefield.

Activities

Activities include living history reenactments, and demonstrations on the grounds, a church service, military exercises, flag signaling, and battles at 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
